Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade

 Hi Readers,

Happy October!  Is everyone ready for spooky month?  I know that I am. And by spooky month I mean only lightly scary books and movies.  LOL.

So, kicking off my first book for October, let's talk about Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade.

Spoiler Alert is about a romance that was initially based in a fanfiction forum.  Marcus Caster-Rupp is an actor on a hit television series, Gods of the Gates, and he posts fix-it fics to help get his frustration out about his character (initially as Book!AeneasWouldNever).  April Whittier is a geologist who also posts on the same forum as Marcus and they have been collaborating with each other on the fics for a couple of years, anonymously and only under their screen names.  When April posts a cosplay photo of herself as Lavinia from Gods of the Gates on Twitter, Marcus asks her out on a date.  What starts as one date eventually turns into a full romance and eventually the aliases are exposed.

This book has so much going for it.  The character descriptions were gorgeous and so sweet.  April is a plus size main character and rather than shy away from the descriptions, Dade makes them absolutely lovely.  Marcus sees only the best in every part of April and it is the sweetest romance (even the spicy parts are sweet!).  The story itself was a fast read, but the interspersed excerpts of scripts and fics between the chapters adds to both the background of the characters and the enjoyment level of the book.  If you have any background with reading or writing fics, I think you will find the extra level of enjoyment the perfect touch to the story.

5/5⭐

I got distracted by this one while reading A Forgery of Roses, so I will be getting back to that one shortly.  I've also added the second Spoiler Alert book in the series to the TBR, so I'm sure that will be making its way up the list soon :).
