Review: The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston (Contains Spoilers!)

 Hello readers,

I hope everyone is staying cool in this super hot weather.  :)

The first book of August is The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston.  I picked this one up for a couple of reasons.  The first is that it was recommended based on Ali Hazelwood's The Love Hypothesis, and from my July reviews you guys know that I went down a pit of a rabbit hole on this book.  The second is that one of my favorite books that I have read over the last couple of years was Among the Beasts and Briars, also by Ashley Poston.  I definitely had to see what she had in store for an adult novel after this young adult read.

The Dead Romantics focuses on Florence Day, a ghostwriter for a famed romance novelist.  Unfortunately, she no longer believes in love and is having trouble writing the new book she has due.  Florence is also able to see and interact with ghosts.  Shortly after meeting her new editor, Benji Andor, she begins seeing his ghost.  She believes he is dead, but twist...he may not be.  Woo!

I was a little hesitant with the ghost romance story and I'm so glad it didn't end up being something weird.  Ben and Florence are so sweet with each other and his presence helps her deal with the grief of the death of her father.  In fact, I really enjoyed the fact that this was a romance and the steamy stuff didn't really come into play until the end.  The ghost/living relationship of Florence and Ben helped them to establish a really good friendship over the course of the story and showed the love blossom naturally.

Until next time readers :)

Kattie
