Audiobook: The Comeback by Lily Chu

 Hi Readers,

I finally finished listening to The Comeback by Lily Chu.  Audiobooks are not my typical medium and took me way too long to get through.  I actually started this one when I went out of town in July and couldn't sleep.  It sounded like a fun listen and a bonus that it is narrated by Philippa Soo.  So here it is in October and I was finally able to concentrate long enough to finish.  Haha.  How do people function and listen at the same time?

Anyway, let's get started....

The Comeback is a romantic fiction that is set in the world of k-pop.  Ariadne Hui is a lawyer in Toronto who has her life thrown into a loop when her roommate/best friend Hannah's cousin Choi Jihoon comes to stay after a break-up.  What Jihoon doesn't tell Ari is that it isn't a romantic break-up, but a break from his K-Pop band Starlune.  Ari and Jihoon grow closer as they explore Toronto together and make plans for future trips, until Jihoon's band members show up in Toronto looking for him.  Soon after Starlune arrives in Toronto the news is broken and everything becomes chaos.  Jihoon must go back to Korea, but where does that leave Ari?  Ari must decide if she will sacrifice her love and stay the dutiful daughter practicing law or if she will follow her heart which may lead her into the unknown world of k-pop idols.

As someone who is slowing getting interested in k-pop, I really enjoyed this book.  And as someone who also enjoyed Lily Chu's other book, I'm glad I decided to go ahead and give this audiobook a try.  Philippa Soo's narration was also fantastic and definitely influenced my decision to try the audible.  I found myself engrossed in the story once I finally got in the groove with it.  I think if it was in print this would have helped me enjoy it further, but it was still such a fun listen.

Also, I love Jihoon as a romantic lead.  He was one of the most encouraging and supportive romantic leads that I have come across.

4/5 ⭐
